FAQ for small businesses
Are e-signatures legally binding for business contracts?
In the US, electronic signatures generally have the same legal effect as signatures on paper under the ESIGN Act and UETA, provided the signer intended to sign, both parties consented to do business electronically, the signature is attributable to the signer, and the record can be retained and reproduced. SigFetch captures explicit consent, timestamp, IP, and browser on every signature and binds them to the signed PDF via a SHA-256 hash and Certificate of Completion. For high-value or unusual contracts, check with your attorney.
Is SigFetch really free, with no per-seat or per-envelope charge?
Yes. No per-seat pricing, no envelope cap, no signer cap, no card on file. SigFetch is funded by voluntary donations instead of subscriptions — if you're curious how that compares to the paid tools, the numbers are on the comparison page. The core sending, signing, audit, and certificate features stay free.
Can multiple people sign the same document?
Yes. A SigFetch envelope takes as many recipients as you need, routed sequentially (each signs in order) or in parallel (everyone at once). Signers can decline with a reason, you can void or resend, and you can re-request a signature after a decline.
Can my whole team use SigFetch?
Yes, with one honest caveat: there are no shared team workspaces yet. Each person who sends documents creates their own free account — there's no seat count or per-user charge, so five senders cost the same as one: nothing. Recipients never need an account; they sign from an emailed link.
How does SigFetch handle my business data?
SigFetch stores documents encrypted at rest, and a signed PDF is byte-identical every time you download it, so it will still pass verification later. SigFetch is a free service rather than an archival system, though — download your signed contracts and keep them with your business records. The Privacy Policy covers the specifics.
Does SigFetch have an API for our internal tools?
Yes — SigFetch includes a free REST API on every account. From code you can create envelopes, upload PDFs, add recipients and fields, send, and void, and HMAC-signed webhooks can notify your CRM or billing system when documents are sent, signed, completed, declined, voided, or expired. Generate a key in settings; the docs are public.
