FAQ for event venues
Are e-signatures legally binding for venue and catering contracts?
Yes. Rental agreements, catering contracts, and event waivers are ordinary commercial contracts, and electronic signatures on them generally have the same legal effect as signatures on paper under the US ESIGN Act and UETA — provided the signer intended to sign, both parties agreed to sign electronically, and the signature is attributable to the signer. SigFetch records consent, timestamp, IP, and browser and binds them to the signed PDF with a SHA-256 hash and Certificate of Completion.
Can I collect a deposit or deposit authorization?
You can capture the signed authorization — the document side. SigFetch is a signing tool, not a payment processor, so it doesn't charge the card itself; pair the signed agreement with your existing POS or payment provider to actually take the deposit.
Will SigFetch remind clients who haven't signed yet?
Yes. If a client hasn't signed after three days, SigFetch emails them one automatic reminder, and you can re-send the signing request yourself anytime from the envelope page — useful when a date is about to be released.
Can both the client and the venue sign?
Yes. A SigFetch envelope can carry multiple signers — the event host, a co-host, your venue manager — routed in sequence or all at once.
Do clients need to download an app or make an account?
No. SigFetch clients sign from an emailed link in their phone or laptop browser — no app, no password, no account. Only the venue (the sender) needs a free account.
How much does it cost for a busy venue?
Nothing — SigFetch has no envelope cap and no per-seat fee, so a venue sending dozens of contracts a week pays the same as one sending two: zero. It's funded by voluntary donations.
